If real people are too bad for you, you’ll soon be able to play with AI partners in the biggest battle royale on Steam

The battle royale shooter PUBG: Battlegrounds will soon have AI partners with whom you can form a team. These can carry out various tasks and be a real support – in contrast to some human team members.

What kind of AI partners are these? NVIDIA is currently working with PUBG’s publisher on PUBG Ally. This is an artificial intelligence that replaces a human team member in the shooter.

She should be able to act like a human and make realistic decisions. In addition, the AI characters should see and hear like a human. This allows them to perceive their surroundings and react to them.

The AI’s skills should exceed the normal behavior of previous AI NPCs and approach the behavior of a human team member. It is even possible to chat with the AI partner and give him commands.

You’ll soon be able to give orders to AI partners in PUBG

What can the AI partners do? You can give your generated team member multiple tasks by chatting with them:

  • You can ask the AI partner to search for specific ammunition or equipment. The AI then starts looking for it and pings your location as soon as it finds it.
  • If you are attacked by enemies, the AI can give you protection. She also shoots when you encounter enemy players.
  • If there is no vehicle in sight, you simply send your AI team member off. It then searches the surroundings and drives up with the vehicle.
  • In battle, your AI partner can help you get back on your feet, flank your opponents and do much more as you order him to do.
  • If the system works, it can have the advantage of having a reliable colleague on the team. NVIDIA shows what the whole thing should look like in battle with a new video on YouTube:

When should the feature come? It is not yet known when exactly the AI partners will come to PUBG. It also remains unclear to what extent the performance of the AI members is included in the ranking for Modi.

NVIDIA revealed that there will be such AI partners in the Battle Royale Naraka: Bladepoint Mobile (PC version) from March 2025. The feature for the main offshoot will follow later. This suggests that it shouldn’t take long for PUBG to have non-human members available.

In ZOI, which will be released at the end of March 2025, there will also be NPCs called “Smart Zoi”. However, they are unlikely to collect ammunition for you.

The big disadvantage with AI team members is that you can’t make new, human contacts. A couple met and fell in love in Shooter in 2019.
