Battles in Baldur’s Gate 3 can quickly become exhausting, especially when your party is already down. A feature can prevent this – and many of you are probably overlooking it.
What is this function?
This is how you use the short break: To the right of your character bar at the bottom you will find the campfire sign. From there you can either travel to your camp or start a short or long rest.
By using a short rest, you regain half your life points. Certain class abilities and items increase this amount. Also receive about:
However, you should be careful when you rest. Because per “day”, i.e. per long rest, you only have 2 short rests available (or 3 with a bard). If you’re just a little bruised, better use a healing potion. There are more often.
Since fighters regenerate their most important abilities during a short rest, this makes them the perfect starter class:
Short break or long break – What’s the difference?
Unlike a long rest, you don’t use up any supplies on a short rest. So you don’t have to make sure you have enough provisions with you. If you take a long rest, you also restore all magic spots and life points.
The most important thing about a short rest, however, is that it only takes 15 minutes and not the rest of the day.
This means that not much is changing in the world. When you go to sleep for a long rest, many situations can change by the next day. Some quests, such as the quest to recruit Minthara, even require a long rest.
During a long rest, personal stories of the characters are also advanced. Certain situations can only occur when you go to sleep. But if you want to prevent something from happening before you’ve done everything, you should avoid taking a long break.
In this case, you should divide your short rest well and otherwise work with healing potions. Martial classes that are strong even without spells, such as barbarians, fighters, and rogues, are useful for the group. You can find the best classes here:
