The three participants who were appointed were Ella Ekholm, Leo Tekiel and Paulina Velasquez Gallegos. They all received plaudits from the jury for their performances.
Leo Tekiel sang the song “Kiss” by Prince, and received a lot of praise afterwards.
– Absolutely the best tonight, absolutely the best you’ve done, Anders Bagge said during the broadcast.
When TV4 Nyheterna meets Leo Tekien afterwards, he says that he was “shocked” by the news.
– I thought a lot of people had much better performances than I had, but it was great fun. It’s a boost, he says.
“Had a little doubt”
He says that he felt insecure about his performance before the broadcast.
– It was a much-needed boost today. I had a little doubt whether it was good enough before, so it was great to get that confirmation, he says.
Ella Ekholm and Paulina Velasquez Gallegos were also named as the jury’s favourites, for their performances with the songs “Welcome to the jungle” and “The winner takes it all”.
– I almost started crying, you are an artist, said jury member Peg Parnevik to Paulina Velasquez Gallegos, who had difficulty holding back tears after her performance.
Katia Mosally: We are not too harsh
Jury member Katia Mosally is generally satisfied with the evening’s performances.
– Some really stepped up. We can talk about Leo, he goes from strength to strength, she says.
During the program, some of the idols talked about struggling with low self-confidence and doubts since last Saturday.
– It is sad that some people lose self-confidence. I think it’s because you compare yourself to others and you shouldn’t do that. They are there for a reason, then there is a competition where someone has to go home every week.
When asked if the jury is too harsh on the idols, she replies that she doesn’t think so.
– We must represent the music industry. We are not harsh for the sake of being harsh, but to give constructive criticism. I’m not there for the audience or the viewers to praise me, I’m there because I want to help these young people achieve their dream, she says.
