id Software’s new FPS game could be a huge project

A year after The Ancient Gods Part 2, Doom Eternal’s final DLC, was released in 2021, fans are starting to speculate about what id Software’s next project will be. Since The Ancient Gods ended the story of Doom Slayer, and other Bethesda studio’s MachineGames Wolfenstein series is considered to be a successful spin-off, fans have also speculated that Quake or even Rage could be handled by id Software.

A remake of the Quake series has become a popular candidate, especially since the Rage series is a lesser-known game, especially considering that Quake 2 has been impressively remastered recently.

Job posting offers dazzling tips

The mystery about id Software’s future game may be clarified with the latest job posting. According to a job posting on LinkedIn, id Software is looking for a Senior Weapons and Items Artist. Specifically, the candidate must have worked and published in at least one first-person shooter.

It is somewhat complicated why this position was opened at such a late stage. Unless there were major glitches, and judging by the traditional timelines of AAA games, the studio’s next game should have started after the release of Doom Eternal three years ago, or after The Ancient Gods Part 2 DLC in 2021.

The job posting also states “We produce AAA games”. This suggests the possibility that id Software may be working on multiple games with different internal teams. But that’s just speculation. As no official confirmation has been received by id Software, Bethesda or Xbox so far, fans will have to wait longer to know more about the famous studio’s new FPS game.
