He has been one of Leksand’s big stars.
But now Carter Camper fears for his future at the club.
– I would be lying if I didn’t answer yes to that, says the 34-year-old to Sportbladet.
Leksand falls deep in the SHL table and, after 33 rounds played, is only in 10th place before the spring final sprint. On Thursday evening, the team fell heavily against big rival Brynäs with 5-2 and now only two points separate the competitors in the SHL table.

Camper worried
As Leksand has not yet offered him a contract extension and can thus leave the club after the season, Sportbladet reports. The speculation about the future has really affected Camper strongly.
– It is frustrating and hard. I have been here for three years, I have three children and they have grown up here. I’m trying to figure out what’s best, not only for me and my career, but also for my family, he says to the evening newspaper.

The 34-year-old, who previously played over 500 games in the AHL, admits that there are many thoughts about the future that are spinning around in his head.
– I would be lying if I didn’t answer yes to that. That’s the life we live, I’ve done it for nine years in North America but it’s different because there can’t sign anything until July. Here it is a little different. I haven’t had to think about it for 2.5 years, but now it (moving) might be an option. I try to figure out what is best for the whole family, he says in the interview.

But Carter Camper also says that the door is not completely closed for a continuation in Leksand, neither from his side nor from the club’s side.
– I don’t close any doors, all doors are open to me. There are many things that come into play: the family, the location of the team, finances and the length of the contract, says the Canadian.
– We have talked and I understand the situation they are in. They have some decisions they have to make.
