Icy and snow flurries –

Heavy snow flurries with up to 15 centimeters of fresh snow are expected in Stockholm on Friday. Sudden icy conditions are expected in Skåne and the road conditions have already caused several accidents during the morning, reports the rescue service.

A yellow warning has been issued and SMHI is now warning of sudden ice from 15:00 on Friday in Skåne County. The road surface is already reported to be very slippery and the rescue service confirms that several accidents have already happened during the morning.

– During the morning, we received four traffic accidents within a quarter of an hour, says Joel Johansson, at the Southern Rescue Service.

Two accidents have occurred at height at the Löddeköpinge traffic area and another accident in Hörby. On road 113 towards Eslöv, a lorry loaded with milk packages is also driven into the ditch.

– No people were injured in the accidents, but the driver of the truck was taken to the hospital for a check-up.

15 centimeters of fresh snow

In Skåne County, rain mixed with snow is expected that can freeze to ice and colder air that sweeps down during the evening. SMHI’s warning extends until 9pm on Friday evening.

– It is important to drive very carefully and keep up to date on the weather, says Lovisa Svanberg, meteorologist at TV4 Nyheterna.

In northern parts of Stockholm County and Uppsala County, snowfall is expected and locally there may be up to 15 centimeters of fresh snow. A yellow warning for snowfall applies there from 15:00 on Friday until 21:00 on Saturday.
