Just over three years ago, the accident happened to Charlotta Säfvenberg, who was then 25 years old. During a slalom training in Norrbotten, she injured her knee so badly that she missed the entire upcoming season. The cruciate ligament injury was tough to come back from, but for the coming season the hopes were high for the skater.

The big nightmare

But now bad luck has struck again for the national team skater. During a training session in Piztal, Austria, the 28-year-old, according to SVT, overstretched. In Sweden, the news came that she had suffered a cruciate ligament injury in her left knee. Now he has suffered two similar injuries to two different knees in the last three years.

And she thus misses the entire upcoming season.

– I have probably never ridden as well as I did towards the end. I’ve had a great autumn and our team has just felt so good. I feel that I was really on my way, we had found what we had to work on and everything had started to drop, says Säfvenberg in a press release.

Pilla’s strong words

Säfvenberg believes that the timing of the injury is the worst possible, but that she is determined to get back.

– I had just made it into the top 30, so this went wrong. It’s the worst possible timing but I’m motivated. I will do everything I can to start again next season, she says.

Pernilla Wiberg, alpine icon and now an expert on SVT, believes that Charlotta Säfvenberg should think about a continued investment.

– Is it worth investing further? There is life after this (skiing career) too. Charlotta should think twice, she says to SVT.
