Nicklas Lidström was present during the third SM final.
And he wasn’t exactly floored by the entertainment.
– It will actually be a bit boring, he says.
The SC final between Växjö Lakers and Skellefteå AIK has been fantastic – at least if you like defensive hockey. In the second final match, Växjö shot a record few shots and won the match 1-0, and initially it looked like that in the third match as well.
The sawing of the icon
There was no goal in the first period of Thursday’s game, which meant that there was a total of one goal in four periods of play. The second period also remained scoreless, and the hockey crowd was really thirsty for something to happen. And so also the icon Nicklas Lidström.
Lidström, one of the best hockey players of all time, was present during Thursday’s final match, and he agreed with the rest of hockey Sweden about the match picture, which he considered to be remarkably poor.
– It’s a bit tight-lipped. Very good structurally and you rarely see 3-2 or 2-1 chances, says the former back star Nicklas Lidström to C More.

“A bit boring”
Many have gone so far as to call the match series boring. In Radiosporten, the final has been called, among other things, the most boring in hockey history, and “Lidas” has a hard time saying anything else.
– It will actually be a bit boring. But you can see that the important thing for these teams is to win. They try to find ways to win, and sometimes things get stuck. They are two skilled teams. But we don’t always see it coming, says Lidström.
After all, Nicklas Lidström knows what it’s all about. During his career, there were a total of four Stanley Cup titles, as well as Olympic and World Cup gold with Tre Kronor. Playing boring can be a win-win, but at the same time he calls for a team that breaks the pattern.
– That’s actually how it is. You have to sacrifice a little, like sticking up in the attack when you really shouldn’t. You notice that there is a lot. which is at stake for both teams, says Nicklas Lidström.
In the third period, there was a real breakthrough for both teams, who scored two goals each. In the fifth period, Skellefteå was able to decide, and the match series is thus 2-1 to Växjö.
