They have won the most SC golds of all time in handball.
But the big fiasco is now a fact and Redbergslid goes out for the second year in a row.

Redbergslid had played 40 seasons in a row in the top league and had become Swedish handball’s most successful club. With a whopping 20 SM golds, they are the club team with the most gold medals on the men’s side, but last season the nightmare began.
RIK’s giant failure
The Gothenburg team left the Handball League and this season it got even worse. On Tuesday evening, the giant fiasco became a fact when RIK also left the Allsvenskan and was forced to leave a series for the second year in a row.

For next season, the big club will now play in division 1 and the disappointment is total. Now the club icon and one of Swedish handball’s biggest names airs, Magnus Wislanderhis major criticism.
Wislander’s criticism
He joined Redbergslids IK back in 1979 and has scored 658 goals in 164 games for the club in his heart. The “Slangen” has also won five SM golds with Redbergslid and was also a coach at the club from 2002 to 2020.

For Wislander, it is sad to see what has happened to his beloved team.
– First of all, it is very sad, for such a huge association. But with the fall that you do, it wasn’t good and you couldn’t get it together. So it is well deserved that in the end you go out anyway, even if you did well in the end, says the club icon to Radiosporten.
– If you don’t do better, you don’t deserve better either.

Magnus Wislander now hopes that this can be a fresh start for the club and a chance to rethink completely.
– Now maybe you get some breathing room, some breathing holes, and can continue to work with juniors and younger talents that you have.
