Frida Karlsson, Maja Dahlqvist and Linn Svahn directed great criticism at the national skiing team.
Now Charlotte Kalla is speaking out about the outcome.
– We always had a plan, says Kalla, who was also outside the national team’s training group during her career.
Frida Karlsson, Maja Dahlqvist and Linn Svahn have chosen to leave the national team’s training group for their own venture towards the upcoming season. Among other things, the WC is coming up this winter, and in order to get as good a preparation as possible, the trio has chosen to run with their own coaches and their own set-up.
Called response
Opinions about it have differed, but all have said that there is no rift or hard feelings with the national team. But this week the trio came out in an interview with Viaplay and directed sharp criticism at the national team. It was said that there had been no communication at all with the national team about how the training was going, something that Maja Dahlqvist and Frida Karlsson called strange.
Charlotte Kalla, who ended her career last spring, was herself outside the national team’s training group for large parts of her career, with her own coach and her own set-up. But she does not recognize herself in what the trio now describes.
– We had a good dialogue throughout the pre-season and also had a plan for how I would be integrated into the team, once I performed during the Sweden premiere, she tells SVT.

“They work extremely hard”
Charlotte Kalla believes that communication between skaters and national teams is important to get the best possible out of all parties.
– There is still a lot of work that is done in the national team operations, from the resources that are around. The wallaby is such a thing. The herding team works very hard, she says.
The national team, in turn, has said that there is communication – regular communication – with the skaters’ coaches. Anders Byström, national team manager, believes that contact with Frida Karlsson’s coach takes place once a month, and even more often with Maja Dahlqvist’s coach. In addition, the national team follows the skaters’ training diary.
