Ice hockey: Washington badly out against the New York Rangers

After two opening wins for the Rangers in New York, this Round of 16 series turned to the capital.

The home team got off to a promising start when John Carlson filled up offensively after just five minutes.

He got the puck inside the blue line and quickly sent a shot that didn’t look unstoppable, but appeared to put Igor Shesterkin between the posts to make it 1-0.

But it didn’t get more fun than that in terms of goals for Washington.

Double assist from Zibanejad

Just over half a minute later, Chris Kreider headed in a shot from Mika Zibanejad to make it 1-1.

Outnumbered just a couple of minutes later, Barclay Goodrow then completed the turnaround via a quick conversion.

Three of the match’s four goals already came in the first period. During the middle period, Vincent Trochek, in numerical superiority, was able to score what would be the final score 3-1 to the guests – nicely played by Zibanejad.
