In a powerplay where they played four against three, Eriksson Ek led in front of the goal to make it 2-1 after a back shot from Victor Hedman.

With 58 seconds left in regular time, Finland equalized at 1-1 against Tre Kronor. The goal came as a shock after Sweden took the lead four minutes earlier.

  • – We became a bit passive, which is understandable. They scored a goal on one control, they had two and we maybe 17 and that can be the case sometimes, says Erik Karlsson.

Finland had selected goalkeeper Emil Larmi and played with six against five outfield players. Hannes Björninen had to stand completely clean in front of Filip Gustavsson and steered the puck into the roof of the net.

Tre Kronor hammered on but it was still scoreless until 4.58 remained. Then Rasmus Dahlin made it 1-0.

    “Their goalkeeper played incredibly well”

Dahlin advanced on the left wing, feinted, and from a tight angle he managed to outwit the great Växjö goalkeeper Emil Larmi and score the redeeming 1-0 goal, a fair goal considering the match picture.

    – I think we played an amazingly good match right from the start, their goalkeeper played incredibly well and they played incredibly smart, so we knew it would be a difficult game even if it didn’t play its best group stage, says Erik Karlsson.

Semi-final against the Czech Republic in Prague

    – We chewed on and didn’t get frustrated, weren’t afraid of losing and kept going, continues Karlsson.

Dahlin was awarded Tre Kronor’s best player.

On Saturday, the Czech Republic awaits in the semi-finals in Prague. Probable match start is 14.20. In the second semi, Canada plays Switzerland.

    – It will be fun and it will be an incredible feature in the fine arena, says Karlsson.

It is the first time in six years that Tre Kronor will play in a WC semi-final.
