Ice hockey: The women’s crowns got off to a dream start to the season – blanking Switzerland in the Euro Hockey Tour

The women’s crowns started the new season tonight, when they met the home team Switzerland in the Euro Hockey Tour in Kloten.

Switzerland is a team that Sweden often has fairly even matches against, but tonight there was no talk of that.

  • The Swedes are superior

The women’s crowns took the lead already in the fifth minute, when former HV71 player Thea Johansson (now in the American Mercyhurst University) poked the puck in at the left post after a nice pass by Ebba Hedqvist.

After that, the Swedes were basically superior, and thus won in the end with 4–1. Hilda Svensson scored two of the other goals, and Maja Nylén Persson the last.

    – A very well executed match from Sweden where they put their foot down from the start, right in the first meeting, says SVT Sports expert Maria Rooth.

    Johansson had a free position

The Swedish victory figures were underwhelming. They had chances for more goals, including the 1–0 goalscorer Thea Johansson was free from half the field, but had the finish saved by the Swiss goalkeeper.

    – Switzerland never entered the match. Sweden gets approved with praise, I think they have a great first game that they can build on.
