Ice hockey: Super rescue in the NHL by Washington’s Charlie Lindgren

Lindgren went out to leave the goal empty and get one to the outside players in the hunt for a receipt. Halfway out to the replacement booth, however, Lindgren saw that Phil Di Guiseppi was free to put 3-1 for Vancouver.

With a giant leap, Lindgren managed to catch the puck in the pick and offer perhaps the season’s most spectacular rescue.

The match ended with a huge goal after Washington got his winning suite for six matches broken – scored in twelve straight matches.

Elias Pettersson played with Elias Pettersson

In Vancouver, the more well-known forward Elias Pettersson was joined by the slope Elias Pettersson who played his first NHL match. This is the second time in NHL history two players of the same name play for the same team in the same match.

The lesser-known Elias Pettersson, a 20-year-old with the past in Örebro and Västerås, got to see Quinn Hughes score two goals. At 1-0 he slid into the track and lifted the puck in the cross with a backhand.

– I was shocked. It was a fantastic goal, says the unknown Pettersson who was looked up by Vancouver Sun.
