Ice hockey: Nasty scenes when Timrå won: “I get chills”

Timrå’s fans could celebrate the 2-1 victory against table runner-up Växjö.

But when Sebastian Hartmann injured himself with 4.47 left in the first period, it was, on the other hand, eerily quiet in the SCA Arena.

After a duel on the sidelines, Hartmann collapsed and opponent Brian Cooper immediately waved to signal that the situation was serious.

Hartmann appeared to have been hit over the calf or hamstring by Cooper’s skate rail.

“Taken by ambulance to hospital”

Fellow and opposing players acted quickly and Hartmann received medical help while he was lying on the ice. After a while, the referees decided to end the period early and took the players off the ice. Hartmann could then be rolled out on a stretcher to the applause of the audience.

“I can confirm that Hartmann was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Out of consideration for Sebastian’s privacy, we will not leave any further comments at this time,” writes Timrå’s team doctor Christian Rydin in a text message to Sundsvall’s newspaper.

After the situation, Timrå turned a 0-1 deficit into a 2-1 victory after a double goal by Sundsvallsson’s Anton Wedin.
