Ice hockey: Minnesota’s Jesper Wallstedt kept his first clean sheet in the NHL: “It got emotional”

– It is fantastic. The last fifteen seconds I could only feel “okay, we’re going to do this” and then it became emotional when I reflected on how hard I worked since the debut against Dallas and how that work paid off, says Wallstedt to the media afterwards according to the NHL.

21-year-old Wallstedt, in Luleå in the SHL, played his second NHL game. He made his debut in a 7-2 rout of Dallas on January 10. The win of the night gave him his first victory.

“A Swede in the opponent’s box”

It was a Swedish duel. In Chicago, Arvid Söderblom saved 33 shots (to compare with Wallstedt’s 24).

– It felt like we were a little tired, says Chicago coach Luke Richardson.

Mika Zibanejad had two goals and an assist as his NY Rangers beat Montreal 5-2. The team picked up its 53rd regular season win, tying the club record.
