Ice hockey: Matthew Rempe decided for the New York Rangers – after another fight

21-year-old Rempe describes his first week in the NHL in a good way when he is interviewed by ESPN after the 2-1 victory against Philadelphia.

– It has been eventful, very eventful. But I love it, he says.

Matthew Rempe has absolutely stormed into the league since his first game on February 21st.

With his 207 centimeters and 111 kilos, he is hard to miss and already in his first change in the league he was involved in a fight. Two games later, he received a match penalty against New Jersey and against Philadelphia on Saturday night, it was only three minutes before he took a big hit on Nicolas Deslauriers.

But this time he also got to know how it feels to decide a match.

Six and a half minutes later, he steered a shot behind Samuel Ersson. The 21-year-old’s first NHL goal meant 2–1 and was also the last goal of the game.

– It is unreal. Maybe the ugliest first goal in NHL history, but I’ll take it, he says.

Record-long winning streak

The 2–1 victory was the New York Rangers, who are the league’s most in-form team, their tenth in a row.

This makes it the longest winning streak in the club’s history.
