Before tonight’s SHL matches, Luleå was third in the table.
But after they won 3–0 away to Modo, at the same time as Skellefteå lost 1–3 away to Timrå and Färjestad lost 2–3 away to Örebro, the team from Norrbotten is suddenly at the top of the table.
– I didn’t know that. Nice to hear, says Luleå’s goalkeeper to TV4, when he hears that the team tops the table.
Ward played big in goal
In the end, Luleå’s victory was quite clear, even if the home team sometimes pressed the hardest. But Matteus Ward in the goal was responsible for some nice saves, while the players further forward in Luleå were more effective than the home team’s diton.
– I get a good feeling early on, and have a bit of flak when it bounces with me. It’s just to thank and accept, says Ward to TV4.
And when the referees, after a long video review 13 minutes into the third period, came to the conclusion that Anton Levtchi’s goal should be approved, the score was 3-0 to the visitors – and the victory was basically complete.
“It flowed away”
In the end, the victory numbers were written at 5–0, and the guests could travel home to Norrbotten as the new series leader, while Modo is the new series jumbo.
– It ran away at the end, notes Modo’s coach Mattias Karlin in TV4.
