Ice hockey: Leksand forced Game 7 against Frölunda – to be decided in Gothenburg on Wednesday

In the middle of the third period, Frölunda’s goalkeeper Lasse Johansson rushed out to push the puck away but instead made it so that it eased over him and into the goal for 4-1.

Since own goals do not count in ice hockey, the secretariat had to search for a while before they could discover that Max Veronneau had been hit by the puck on his pants in the build-up to the attack. It was also Veronneau who was closest to Johansson in the situation.

That decided the sixth quarter-final.

“Just a joy to play”

– It was crazy fun and especially when we had such support in the stands. It’s just a joy to play important matches like this, says Felix Unger Sörum, who scored the 3-1 goal in the power play.

After Frölunda reduced to 4-2, Leksand scored 5-2 after a pattern attack where free Anton Johansson finished by putting the puck in the nearest right cross and the packed hall exploded with scarf party and cheering chants in the stands.

Leksand can be happy to have started their power play.

– It was the fourth straight power play that we scored, says Unger Sörum.

Frölunda started well and when they got an early opening goal they seemed to have the game in their hands but instead it was Leksand who could turn things around

– In terms of play, we play one of our better matches in the quarter-final series, but let in a couple of unpleasant goals that are difficult to explain. It could be a match like this in a series and we have to let it go, says Frölunda’s coach Roger Rönnberg.
