Watch the discussion in the studio surrounding Kazakhstan’s odd move in the player above.
– It’s the old Soviet school of dribbling with young players and I don’t like it at all, says SVT’s expert Andersson.
After eleven minutes and 3-0 to the Czech Republic, Vladimir Nikitin was replaced in favor of Jokhar Dudarkiyev, who had to stand. At 8-1 it was time for Nikitin to step into the box again.
The changes were directed by the national team captain Sergej Starygin, 63, a familiar name to Jonas Andersson.
“Was there when I played 25 years ago”
– I recognized the name and had to look it up and he was there when I played JVM about 25 years ago. It is a bit disrespectful to replace a young goalkeeper as early as at 3-0, Andersson continues and emphasizes that Kazakhstan does not have the skills to match the top nations.
Starygin has led various Kazakh junior national teams since 1998.
The expert Håkan Loob was not as critical of the goalkeeper changes.
– Nikitin is their real number one and plays in North America and you should treat him with silk gloves and be careful with him. I hope you do it for positive reasons, even if it’s different and can seem a bit shitty, says Loob.
