Ice hockey: HV71 won against Oskarshamn after a solo goal – one game away from a secured SHL contract

An incredibly even play out series and an even fifth game in the SHL.

There was a goal in each of the opening two periods, but in the third Radan Lenc offered a delicacy. The 32-year-old took the puck from his own zone in box play and got past all the players before he pushed in the 2-1 goal, which would prove to be the winning goal. The Czech celebrated by sliding on his knees.

– I took the puck in our zone and I wanted to waste time and keep the puck, but I saw a forward in front of me and I wanted to test him. I had some luck with the bounce, then I tried to shoot. It turned out well, says Lenc to SVT Sport.

Oskarshamnsonen Oscar Engsund tells how the thoughts go in this anxiety qualifying series.

– It’s hard, of course, a lot is at stake, but you try to forget the here and now and think that it’s a playoff and take those thoughts afterwards, he tells SVT Sport.

How do you feel inside?

– Now after the loss, it’s sad. Otherwise good.

How much human can you be between matches, can you disconnect from this?

– We with children can relax. We go home and play a little and play a little hockey with the kids.

HV71 now leads the match series with 3-2 and they can decide in the next match on Tuesday.
