It was in a match against Luleå that Olsson was injured in a melee with Petra Nieminen and had to begin a long rehab that was thought to last the season.
She crossed her fingers that Frölunda would defeat Djurgården in the quarter-finals, which was accomplished after a maximum of five games, because then it would open up for play.
“Became extra emotional”
Now Luleå awaits at home on Monday in the first semifinal in the best of five games for Olsson, who during the playoffs was in Frölunda’s booth during the women’s team’s first ever playoffs.
– I knew the plan: That if we were to go further, we would go for it. So of course it became extra emotional for me after the final whistle, because then I knew what the plan was, says Olsson to GP.
The 25-year-old is one of Sweden’s absolute best players and already has two SM gold medals on his track record.
