Vancouver had a nightmare second period and was down 1-4.
But in the third period, the team showed why they are in the NHL’s top tier this season.
Elias Pettersson immediately reduced in the third period with a hard and well-placed shot which meant that the camera inside the goal had to be replaced.
Teammate Brock Boeser followed up with two goals – resulting in a hat trick – and the game went to overtime.
There Pettersson stepped forward again.
It wasn’t Ångesonen’s prettiest goal in his career when he got the puck on his skates and into the goal. The Columbus camp considered it a kicking move, but after the referees checked the goal, it was approved – and Pettersson shouldered the hero’s role.
