Ice hockey: Edmonton Oilers take last chance – forcing game 7 against Florida Panthers

It turns out the Edmonton Oilers don’t necessarily need Connor McDavid. After crushing 5-1 on home ice against the Florida Panthers, they now force a so-called game 7 and level the final series at 3-3.

– It’s a good story but we also have to complete it, everyone will forget this if we don’t, says Edmonton’s Zach Hyman to the NHL’s website.

Stanley Cup

  • Controversial verdict in the Stanley Cup final – Florida Panthers with a disallowed goal

  • Kevin Stenlund’s promise after the first victory: “We will be better next game”

  • Edmonton controlled the game from start to finish with the first goal scored after seven minutes. Already after 46 seconds it was 2-0 and just in time for the second period break came the third.

Florida cut back early in the third period to give some kind of pulse to the game but then took the goalie out early – which was punishing. It was not just one but two goals in an open box with only 12 seconds between them.

Edmonton has gone from 0-3 down to 3-3 and can now do what no one has done in 82 years. The last time anyone went 0-3 in a Finals series was when the 1941-1942 Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Detroit Red Wings.

The winner of the Stanley Cup will be decided on Tuesday, June 25 in Florida.
