Ice hockey: Djurgården completed a strong week – blanked Brynäs at home

When you see sweaty parades like the one from Brynäs goalie Damian Clara above (see clip), you understand why it was long goalless in the hockey Allsvenskan summit between Djurgården and Brynäs.

Shots 25-20 to the visitors from Gävle at Hovet after two periods, but neither Clara nor Hugo Hävelid had so far let a puck past them.

But in the third period one of them would have to capitulate.

The class resolved the deadlock

In the power play, Linus Klasen got the puck out on the left, went towards one of the drawing circles before smashing the puck into the far crossbar.

Edvin Hammarlund made it 2-0 six minutes later before 17-year-old Linus Eriksson flicked in the third, which was his second goal of the season.

Narrowed the gap

The numbers stopped there when Djurgården took their second straight victory after defeating Björklöven earlier in the week.

For Brynäs, it was a loss after two previous consecutive victories. They are still at the top of the table, but now six points ahead of Djurgården instead of nine.
