Brandon Carlo made it 3-1 at the end of the second period. He did not travel with the team to Florida on Sunday but waited until his wife Mayson gave birth to the couple’s second child. The son was born and on Monday morning Carlo could take the three-hour flight and join the team.
– I definitely wanted to play and I’m very happy that I did, says Carlo according to AP.
It was an even match for a long time. Florida star Matthew Tkachuk made it 1-0 and the roof was lifting in the hall in Sunrise. Just over a minute later, Morgan Geekie equalized to make it 1-1 and then nothing could stop Boston, who took the season’s fifth win out of a possible five against Florida this season.
Jeremy Swayman has relegated Ullmark to the booth
– I was just so impressed that we all didn’t take no for an answer. The physical, mental and everything was so good to see and I’m really excited for what’s to come, says Boston goalkeeper Jeremy Swayman. He has stood in the entire playoff and took over the first spade from Linus Ullmark.
Swayman, who saved 38 shots, appears unthreatened as the first goalie.
– We made a lot of mistakes, If it wasn’t for Jeremy Swayman, it would have been a much more even game and they might have been able to win the game, says Boston coach Jim Montgomery.
