Skaters want to break preconceived notions about women who play sports.

Ice dancers are among the greats of figure skating Gabriella Papadakis and Madison Hubbell announced on Saturday that they will perform together next February, when the art gala Art on Ice is organized in different Swiss locations.

Frenchman Papadakis, 29, won Olympic gold in ice dancing in Beijing 2022 by Guillaume Cizeron with. The pair also won five World Championship golds and recently announced their retirement. Hubbell, 33, won the team competition for the US team in Beijing.

According to Papadakis, this “world first” case aims to show that “our sport can be more inclusive, more modern and braver.”

– We also want to break certain stereotypes regarding the expectations that are associated with women who do sports: always be feminine, gentle, fragile, Papadakis said.

– With this, we dream of a future where everyone can find their place on the ice regardless of their identity, Hubbell added.
