– We don’t have a clear picture of how much ice cream was destroyed. But my guess is that it can be upwards of SEK 50,000. Exactly how much we will know in a few days, says owner Micke Häggeborg.
At least minus 18 degrees
It was one of the company’s freezer trucks parked outside the company’s facility in Ljusdal that was subjected to burglary. The cargo consisted of ice cream worth a quarter of a million kroner.
Although the ice cream truck is equipped with proper locks, the thieves managed to get into four of the vehicle’s doors. When the thieves took what they were looking for, they didn’t close the doors behind them.
– The temperature of the ice cream must not fall below minus 18 degrees. If it ends up above that, it must be thrown away, says Micke Häggeborg.
No risk of ice cream shortage
Now the ice cream is not lost, but it was a bunch of pigs who got an extra good meal consisting of ice cream.
There will be no shortage of ice cream in Hälsingland and Härjedalen due to the break-in.
– No risk. Should it run out somewhere, it will be because an unusually large amount of ice cream is being sold in the heat, says Micke Häggeborg.
The thieves took between 10 and 20 boxes of ice cream. The incident is being investigated by the police.
