Ukraine’s Attorney General Andriy Kostin announces that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has opened a field office in Kiev, as part of efforts to hold Russian forces accountable for possible war crimes.

“Today marks a decisive step in our journey towards restoring justice. The International Criminal Court’s field office has opened in Ukraine, the largest ICC office outside The Hague. Now our collaboration will be even more efficient and effective,” writes Kostin on social media.

Several Western countries have sent investigators to Ukraine at various stages of the war to help Kiev investigate crimes by Russian forces.

The ICC, based in The Hague, investigates possible war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the war against Ukraine.

“Unlike Russia’s criminal regime, Ukraine has nothing to hide,” continues Kostin.

In March of this year, the court issued an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was singled out as the person most responsible for mass transfers and forced adoptions of Ukrainian children in Russia.

Russia has categorically denied the allegations.
