ICA Sweden lowers the retail prices of over 300 items by between five and 25 percent, the food chain announces in a press release. The new lower prices will come into effect on Tuesday 11 April and will apply for at least two months. The goods include both ICA’s own brand goods within product categories such as bread, poultry, cheese, cured meats, pantry, baby food and hygiene products and other suppliers’ products. As each Ica retailer decides on its own range, and sets its own prices, the customer offer and the number of discounted items will however vary locally between different stores. “With this price reduction, ICA Sweden creates the conditions for all ICA retailers to lower prices for customers in their stores,” says Eric Lundberg, CEO of Ica Sweden, in the press release. “Working hard to help customers” According to Eric Lundberg, the entire food chain works intensively to be able to help customers in the pressured economic situation. “The whole of ICA is now working hard to help customers in the tough situation that prevails and I am therefore very happy that we have now in a first step together with some of our suppliers been able to achieve this broad investment despite the strained situation that also the entire food chain is in i, he says in the press release. Taking after Lidl Last week, Lidl announced that it will reduce and lock in the prices of over a hundred products in its range from Monday, March 27. Products such as milk, coffee, bread, fruit, vegetables and delicatessen will receive an average reduction of eleven percent. Individual items will be reduced by as much as over 30 percent. Like Ica, the price reduction at Lidl will last for at least two months.
