When Astrid was to prepare the Friday night, she went as she always does – to Ica Liljeholmen’s delicacy counter.

But this Friday she was met by something that made her want to vomit.

“It was so damn bad,” she says.

The well -stocked delicacy counter at Ica Liljeholmen is an obvious stop for Astrid when she is going to shop for food for the weekend.

– I have been shopping there for several years and have thought it is great, but this is the most disgusting thing I have seen, she tells Aftonbladet.

Fourth and beak left

In a heating cabinet, dead birds hung with devouring heads. On the body, the springs are picked but on the head both feathers and beak are left.

– I took a picture and sent to my friends, they wondered where the hell I was somewhere, says Astrid.

“Not directly craving”

She had never seen anything like it.

– It usually has meat hanging there. But not whole birds. It feels like something you can see in Thailand, but not in a Swedish ICA store. It was so damn bad, says Astrid and continues:

– You did not immediately crave chicken after that. I bought a piece of meat instead, she says.

Jesper Annell, communications and marketing manager at Ica Liljeholmen, says that the store was inspired by the restaurant world.

– Star pubs have long worked with their own hungry infoclose hanger buttering meat may hang – and become the hungry – which can give a deeper and richer taste. of different kinds of protein to get to unique flavors and experiences, and we were curious to see if the concept could be transferred to the store.

The reactions have been positive, according to Jesper Annell.

– There are several who wanted to get a chance to buy or sign up on a waiting list when the birds are clear, he says.

But it will take a while before the birds are for sale. So far it is an internal project.

– This is completely new to us so we have to take samples, post the entire process until they have been done, analyze the result, and in the last stage let our chefs test the details.

The birds will not be sold whole, with the heads left.

– No, they are already gone, and when it is eventually time, the birds will be further prepared and then sold in details à breast fillet and club, says Jesper Annell.
