IAEA: In Chernobyl, explosion and fire – radiation levels normal, no victims | Brief news

The international atomic energy organization IAEA announces that last night just before two o’clock in Chernobyl, an explosion was heard from a protected area.

Within this area, there are remnants of a nuclear reactor destroyed in the 1986 nuclear accident.

According to IAEA, the explosion followed a fire. However, radiation levels are currently normal both inside and outside the protective area, the organization says.

It is not known that anyone is injured at night events.
