The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi will arrive in Iran on Monday for a three-day visit. On site, he will, among other things, meet Mohammad Eslami at the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI).
Grossi has previously warned that Tehran has enough enriched uranium to make “several” nuclear bombs if it chooses to do so.
On Wednesday, Eslami said he was “confident that these negotiations will further contribute to clarifying ambiguities and that we will be able to strengthen our relations with the body”.
The visit comes just a month after drone attacks hit Isfahan and Tabriz, known sites of key Iranian nuclear technology facilities. The attacks had no impact on Iran’s nuclear program.
Iran has in recent years deactivated the IAEA’s monitoring equipment at nuclear facilities and obstructed inspectors, according to the UN agency.
