IAC 2024 five space days in Milan the numbers

(Finance) – Extraordinary data for the 75th edition of the IAC underway in Milan, with more than 7 thousand scientific abstracts submitted by 2,300 organizations from 120 countries. The five-day event brought together over 500 exhibitors from 46 countries in the Lombardy capital: with around 12,000 participants and 26 astronauts and, at the Global Space Leaders Summit, 64 heads of ESA’s national space agencies and ministers with space mandates from dozens of countries . The IAC returned to Italy for the fifth time. The last one 12 years ago, in 2012 in Naples. The IAC Milan was a record edition with numbers never achieved before. We are proud to have hosted the global space economy community in the year in which we celebrate sixty years of the Italian space enterprise.

This is what he underlined Andrea MascarettiPresident of the Parliamentary Intergroup for the Space Economy, on the occasion of the closing of the 75th edition of the IAC (International Astronautical Congress), the world forum dedicated to space, which took place in recent days in Milan.

The IAC was held one month after the States General of the Space Economy, the event promoted by the Parliamentary Intergroup for the Space Economy, in collaboration with the Ministry for Business and Made in Italy, which brought together in Turin and Milan the institutions and main stakeholders of the Italian new space economy.

Both events “testify to the strategic role played by the sector for the entire Italian economy; importance reiterated, in recent days, by the arrival in the Budget Committee of the Chamber of the framework bill on space, a rule – the first of its kind – which aims to regulate the entry of private operators, promote investments and improve the national competitiveness of the sector”.
