(Telestock) – Istat, Fastweb, and the University of International Studies of Rome (UNINT) have signed a two-year collaboration agreement for the development and testing of methodologies based on on Artificial Intelligence for the production of increasingly accurate statistical information aimed at a greater understanding of the demographic, economic and social phenomena of our country.
Within the framework of the agreement, Istat and UNINT – the note explains – They will make available statistics already made public in text form that will be used by Fastweb for MIIA training (Italian Artificial Intelligence Model), the company’s national linguistic model natively trained in Italian, which will form the basis on which AI and Gen AI applications will be developed by leveraging the computational power of NeXXt AI Factory, the Supercomputer inaugurated by Fastweb a few days ago.
Thanks to a transparent governance of the linguistic model and the use of quality Italian data and in full compliance with current national and European regulations relating to privacy and copyright, Istat, Fastweb and UNINT will work together to develop solutions based on on Artificial Intelligence. Fastweb will also provide consultancy and professional training in the AI field to enable Istat staff to fully use the new applications.
“Thanks to the collaboration started with Istat and UNINT we will have a valuable source of data available to train our model linguistic and develop the applications of the future,” said Walter Renna, CEO of Fastweb. “The agreements and collaborations with research institutions, companies and public administrations are a fundamental part of our strategy with which we want to trace the Italian path of Artificial Intelligence, guaranteeing at all times to companies and public administrations the security and control of their data”.
“Public-private collaboration is essential to drive innovation and ensure that technological advances serve the broader public interest,” he said. Maximum Faithful, director of the Department for the development of methods and technologies for the production and dissemination of statistical information (DIRM). “Putting together the resources of Istat, Unint and Fastweb – he continued – will allow us to guide the development of advanced AI applications, dedicated to the Italian context. This partnership is strategic for us at Istat, to further enhance the statistics already made public and available to all. We are in favor of collaborations that have research as their priority objective, which we have always pursued with passion and competence”.
“Artificial intelligence represents a crucial challenge for our country. A challenge that must be faced by adapting technological innovation to the peculiarities of our industrial system, its needs and its sources of competitive advantage”, declared Alessandro De Nisco, full professor of management and marketing and director of the Department of International Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of International Studies of Rome (UNINT). “The academic world has an enormous responsibility, and today more than ever it is called upon to co-create knowledge with national institutions and companies.
