I was finally able to tackle my 1st crypto raid, it ended in total disappointment

In Pokémon GO you can get Crypto Arktos. So, theoretically, if the raid works. And even then there is no guarantee, MeinMMO author Max Handwerk was able to state.

Weekend is announced! And with that, Crypto Arktos returns to the 5-Star Crypto Raids in Pokémon GO. They’ve been around for a few weeks now, but in case you don’t know them better:

  • The Crypto Raids take place in arenas taken over by Team Rocket
  • The opponent is a boosted Crypto Monster that can also switch to an Enraged mode during battle
  • Then it distributes even more damage and also collects noticeably less
  • Calming it down requires redeemed gems that can be used in battle
  • And to build it, you first need Crypto shards
  • In a nutshell, the Crypto enemies in the raids can be quite difficult, and the 5-star boss Arktos in particular is not easy to beat. You definitely need multiple trainers on site to defeat it.

Unfortunately, I haven’t had much opportunity to run around with several trainers and start raids against Arktos in the past few weeks, the weekends have been packed. But last Sunday, an opportunity finally arose.

I stood at the train station with a few friends in the morning and waited for the train. As luck would have it, Crypto-Arktos suddenly showed up here. And because three of my friends also play Pokémon GO, the opportunity finally came: the fight against Crypto Arktos began.

But the hoped-for catch was not to be avoided in the end.

This is how the long-awaited Crypto Raid against Arktos went

We were all happy to finally have a team together that could realistically challenge Arktos – or so we thought. But it turned out that we weren’t all that well prepared. While we had some of the top counters against Arktos, we were noticeably lacking in redeemed gems. Exactly one was used in battle.

We felt the consequences clearly, because Arktos kept freezing our Pokémon well. The teams had to be revived again and again, which didn’t exactly help in terms of time pressure. And when Arktos got bitchy and went into rage mode, we thought it was over and done with. The health bar just didn’t want to go down, despite attacks from four directions.

Only towards the end of the fight did the monster calm down again, all by itself. Now we struck and finally defeated it – with almost exactly two seconds left on the clock.

But the joy of victory quickly turned into disappointment, because: The kingfisher was noticeably unimpressed by the premium balls thrown, at least in my case. I still thought ‘that can’t be, it’ll stay in the ball’, but Dandelion: It escaped and was never seen again.

All the fighting effort, all the revitalizers and potions, finally enough people and then a raid that was narrowly won – everything actually went together. And yet it didn’t work out in the end.

A bitter result, because it is unclear how quickly the opportunity to challenge the monster in the group will arise again. This is where it becomes noticeable if you don’t have a super-active community nearby – because raids like this will be very difficult to solve locally, especially since they aren’t always available either. A problem that my MeinMMO colleague Franzi Korittke also had to deal with.

Let’s see – maybe it’ll work again this weekend! Have you already solved the Crypto Raid against Arktos? Tell us in the comments!
