I usually only play Asian MMORPGs, but I can’t get away from this Disney game

It’s a blessing and a curse at the same time. The Disney Dreamlight Valley cozy game gives me exactly the grind I need to relax in the evening. I’ll tell you why it’s exactly right for all MMORPG players.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is a sandbox through and through. In addition to the main story, most of the game actually revolves around improving and beautifying your own valley. A task that swallows up a lot of star coins.

To earn Star Coins in Dreamlight Valley, you usually grow pumpkins. Although these take the longest to grow at four hours, they also bring in the most coins at 664 per individual plant.

So Disney Dreamlight Valley involves a lot of grind if you want lots of coins and a nice valley – perfect for a long-time MMORPG player like me. But there are other ways to get coins, like redeeming promo codes.

Who is speaking here? Cedric is the Asia MMORPG expert on MeinMMO. He has spent thousands of hours in games like Swords of Legends Online. Recently he has been playing more and more cozy games that satisfy his desire for grinding.

Disney characters help me grind and level up too

A large field is required to grow the plants. Before we start doing anything, we take a companion from the village with us, to whom we have given “Digging” as a skill. It is leveled with every action and then gives additional rewards for the grind when you level up.

So first we plow a field and are rewarded with a nice sound and every now and then a small random drop for every stroke of the shovel. The field can be of any size. I’ve already seen some players on Reddit who have converted entire sections of the map into a pumpkin field.

Once our field is the desired size, we change our resident and take one who we have given the “Gardening” skill with us. For every plant we plant in the ground, we receive friendship points for our companion.

If all the plowed fields are full of seedlings, we are still allowed to water our field. The watering can basically has an AOE, and if you position yourself correctly, you can water the fields as efficiently as possible.

You can see my little pumpkin patch here.

Finally a grind that’s actually fun

Disney Dreamlight Valley knows the target group of cozy gamers well. It combines popular elements from MMORPGs, such as experience points, levels and milestone rewards, with rewarding sounds and attractive graphics.

Since the game isn’t competitive and doesn’t force me to grind, it makes it even better. I farm voluntarily because I want to make my village more beautiful. Disney Dreamlight Valley excites me as a long-time MMORPG veteran because it makes the grind rewarding.

The grind gets even better because you don’t get the good plants like pumpkins until quite late in the game – before that you have to resort to worse alternatives.

It is also important that you buy the seedlings and therefore have to reinvest part of the income again and again. So a bit of brains is also required.

Despite the cozy gameplay, it’s perfect for MMORPG players

Although many may not want to admit it, Disney Dreamlight Valley is the best non-MMORPG you can play. It’s reminiscent of a time when the level phase wasn’t rushed in order to be able to complete the dailies on the first day.

The game gives me back a feeling that MMORPGs haven’t given me for a long time: a relaxed level phase, grind when I want it and reward in the form of coins that I can use for useful things.

If the grind in your favorite MMORPG has recently seemed frustrating or boring, Disney Dreamlight Valley could offer you a refreshing alternative.
