“I tore my hair out”

When Wednesday launched on Netflix last year, few expected the Addams Family offshoot to become the next streaming hit. Three months later, however, it is clear: Wednesday is one of the most successful Netflix series and will be with us for a while.

As preparations for Season 2 continue, the cast and crew share their experiences filming the first round. This includes lead actress Jenna Ortega, who recently during a Q&A A look behind the scenes has given, as reported by Variety.

Wednesday on Netflix: The shooting of the fantasy series cost Jenna Ortega all her strength

Ortega has spoken in the past about how exhausting Wednesday shooting was. A particular challenge was the many extra hours that she had to put in to to learn their character’s skills. In addition to fencing lessons, she had to take a few cello lessons, among other things.

I always had to get to the set two hours early and then get through a day of 12 to 14 hours. When I came home, a zoom call was already waiting with a lesson on me. Sometimes my cello teacher was already there when I got to my apartment.

Ortega was particularly concerned about the tight schedule.

There was always something to do and when I had a weekend we not shot the sixth day they said, ‘Okay, then we’ll accommodate the classes that day.’

As controlled as her performance appears on the show, it was different on set.

I didn’t get any sleep. I tore my hair out. My dad got so many FaceTime calls that made me cry hysterically.

Due to the lack of time and the fact that Wednesday can be seen in almost every scene in the series, eventually used doublesto exonerate Ortega. Hopefully Netflix will allow more time for Season 2, even if that means we’ll have to wait longer for the new episodes.
