“I think everyone understands that”

Last season was incomparably good for Ebba Andersson.
But she is already looking ahead to the next ski season.
– I think everyone understands where I set the bar now, says the WC queen to SportExpressen.

The 2022/23 ski season was a brilliant success story for Swedish ski jumping Ebba Andersson. After several years of hard work and many hours of training, she finally got to step up to the very highest podium several times again in the World Cup and at the World Ski Championships.

Ebba’s big hit

After the Norwegian ski queen Therese Johaug finished his career, there was a gap to fill as the world’s best distance skier, and Andersson really took on that challenge. The 25-year-old collected four winning races at the World Cup, but it was the 2023 Skiing World Cup in Planica that would be the season’s big celebration.

But now she has decided to rest after winning three straight races after the official end of the season.
– Me and Fredrik (Andersson, brother) have planned a trip to Amsterdam to visit a cousin of ours. Then I’ll hang out a bit with Gustaf (Berglund, boyfriend) and his family outside of Stockholm. That’s what awaits. So everyone will have some form of break from this skiing, she tells SportExpressen.

Reveals his target

At the same time, she is already looking forward to the coming ski season when the goal is to become even better and more dominant. But it will be a special one completely without any major championship.

Then Ebba Andersson’s goal is extremely clear: She will win the overall World Cup.
– Mmm, but at the same time I am well aware that it is very tough. Above all for me, who previously had no given place in a sprint team. So an ambition is to improve my sprinting skills, she says in the interview.
– We have not yet fully figured out exactly how we are going to proceed.

She also has her sights set on the upcoming Tour de Ski. Where she has been inspired by her teammate Frida Karlsson overall victory last time and now wants to win it himself for the first time in his career.
– I already have a third and a second place – but no win. So I think everyone understands where I set the bar now, she says to the evening newspaper.
