Now we have a new quarrel between Sweden and Norway.
Norwegian Kristine Stavå’s Skistad has stirred emotions again.
Now Linn Svahn is reacting strongly to her rival’s inappropriate behaviour.
The Swedish sprint ladies have had an absolutely brilliant start to the World Cup season. Emma Ribom leads the entire Sprint Cup after impressive performances in the first four race weekends and Lynn Svahn has found his way back to great form again.
Skistad’s play
After several tough years, the 24-year-old has found his way back to speed again and is second in the overall Sprint Cup. But in the last sprint race in Trondheim, both Svahn and Ribom had to see themselves overtaken and sprinted down by the Norwegian Kristine Stavå’s Ski City.

After the race, she also hands out some well-chosen words that make the Swedes see red.
– Well, I don’t talk to them. I don’t believe in making friends with the enemy, she says to NRK.
Svahn roars
The statement and the hostile attitude towards his competitors in the tracks make Linn Svahn very angry.
– I think everyone is here to ski and compete. I would have liked us to talk after races and say hello when we warm up. Better friends than enemies, says the Swede to Dagbladet and is also supported by her national team coach.
– It’s a shame. We have a good atmosphere in the “Fis family”, as we call it. It’s stupid if someone is an enemy. It is not correct. It is good during the competition, but not outside, says Anders Byström to the Norwegian newspaper.

Even Emma Ribom dislikes the Norwegian’s way of being, but still wants to pay tribute to her as a skier.
– I haven’t talked much with Kristine. There have only been a few short words after the finish line. I would love to get to know her better. She is incredibly fast and strong, I am incredibly impressed by how she utilizes her strengths during the competitions, says the Swede to Dagbladet.

Regardless of what they think of each other as people, there is a strong rivalry that motivates everyone to get better and push themselves during the sprint races.
– They love the duel against Skistad. If there had only been Swedish athletes at the top, it would not have been fun for the TV viewers. We think a lot about how to beat her and I think she thinks about how to beat us. It’s a fun game, says Byström in the interview.
