“I think a lot of people think so…”

– I dream of the podium, she says to lånding.se about the goal in the WC.

She made her debut in the World Cup back in 2013, but success would take a long time for the experienced biathlete Mona Brorsson. It was only two seasons ago that she took her very first individual podium at the World Cup, with a third place in Antholtz.

Her biggest success in her career then came in the 2022 Winter Olympics when Mona participated and won Olympic gold in the women’s relay. After a tough season last year that was affected by illness, Brorsson has really found his great form now.

She is having the best season of her life this winter and now enters the Biathlon World Cup full of confidence and big dreams. Much thanks to the 33-year-old’s impressive second place in the sprint in Ruhpolding in early 2024.
– It was a perfect race. Top-of-the-line. I rode well, shot both fully and efficiently. I will always have with me the fact that I managed to achieve such a race. It’s really cool to feel that when I perform at that level, it really goes a long way. I’ll take that with me into the World Cup, says Brorsson in an interview with länðig.se.

Mona before the WC

Mona Brorsson, who is often described as the perfect teammate, was shocked by all the attention and clamor for her career-best placing.
– So it was completely overwhelming. I haven’t read everything yet. There were well over 1,000 interactions and comments on social media. People have sent emails and text messages. It’s so awesome. They usually say that what others say should not affect you, but in this case I am prepared to make an exception haha, she says with a smile.
– I am so very grateful that people care so much about how I am doing. But I think it may be because it was a long journey for me. I have struggled and I have tried to be honest in my interviews about how I experienced it. Then I think that many people think that it was about time that I was allowed to succeed.

Now the 33-year-old veteran reveals his goal for the Biathlon World Cup, which begins on Wednesday with the mixed relay.
– Well, the obvious thing is a medal. But I know how hard it is to take them. So the politically correct answer must be fun experiences and wonderful memories. But as I said; I dream of the podium, she admits in the interview.
