I tested 4 charging stations for PS5 controllers – the winner only costs 8 euros

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

The easiest way to charge PS5 controllers is to use the appropriate charging station. But which ones are worth the most? MeinMMO editor Benedikt Schlotmann tried 4 models and chose a winner.

How did the list come about? There are plenty of charging stations for the PS5 controllers on the market from a wide variety of manufacturers. But which of them is worth it at all or does it almost matter which product I spend money on?

For this reason I ordered 4 models and wanted to find out how big the differences really are.

What criteria did I use to rate?

  • Processing: How is the device constructed?
  • Haptics and accessibility: How easy is the model to operate?
  • Value for money: what do I get for my money?
  • In the following article you can read how good or bad the 4 models are and which one is most worthwhile.

HeyStop charging station for PS5 controllers – poor workmanship and expensive

In last place is the charging station from the manufacturer HeyStop. The charging station appears weakly processed, it is light and therefore does not feel very valuable due to the hollow noise. Loading the controllers is a bit fiddly, but works without any problems. A charging cable is included, but no plug. The price is around 15 euros.

Overall, the design of the charging station looks pretty clumsy to me. The model rightly ends up in last place.

There is now also a 3Gen version of the HeyStop station. I haven’t been able to test it yet because it wasn’t available for purchase at the time. Now you can buy 3Gen for around 18 euros.

NexiGo charging station for PS5 controllers – massive design with a nice look

The NexiGo charging station comes in 3rd place for me. The design is bulky and large and thus requires by far the most space on my desk. However, this makes the model look very stable and, on top of that, valuable due to its high weight.

Due to the larger design, snapping the controllers into place does not seem quite as fiddly as with the HeyStop model.

The white charging station from NexiGo costs around 15 euros. Other colors (pink and black), on the other hand, cost around 20 euros.

Sony Charging Station for PS5 Controllers – The official device is expensive, has more accessories than the competition

Sony’s official charging station comes in second place for me. At around 30 euros, the price is very high compared to the competition, but a suitable power supply unit for the charging station is included in the scope of delivery, which is not the case with the other models.

The design is very reminiscent of the official PS5 design with its curved corners. However, it’s quite fiddly to plug the controllers into the station. It’s happened to me often enough that when I plugged in the controller, I turned the PS5 back on.

The price is around 30 euros, making it the most expensive model on the list.

Lioncast Controller Charger – My price-performance tip

My first place goes to the Lioncast charging station. The charging station costs about 8 euros on average and is fundamentally different from the other models. Because you don’t let the controller snap into place, but insert a small plug into the USB-C port and put the controller the wrong way around on the charging station.

The advantage of this: The controller can be loaded very easily and that is much less fiddly than with the other models. In my opinion, this makes the charging station with its price of 8 euros simply unbeatable.

Winners and losers at a glance

Who is the winner? Definitely the Lioncast model. An intuitive charging system, a simple and flat design and the price of less than 10 euros make the model an absolute tip for me.

Who is the loser? I just don’t like the HeyStop charging station. It looks clumsy and of little value and at around 16 euros it is significantly more expensive than the winner.

Which charging station should I buy? Basically, all devices serve their purpose, because they all charge my PS5 controllers without any problems. My tip would be the Lioncast model, which simply offers great value for money. Even for 10 euros I would still use Lioncast.

If you want to pay 15, 20 or more euros for such a charging station, you can also go directly to Sony. Because here you not only get your valuable device for just under 30 euros, but also a power adapter.
