A videographer shared this funny experience: he placed a camera in his running dishwasher. The result surprised many Internet users.
Sickening or astonishing? It’s up to you to decide after watching this video of a dishwasher in operation. This video is the result of a new episode published on the @povsadventures account. The latter has made the specialty of filming everyday places and objects with unique points of view. This time, it was the interior of a working dishwasher that was scrutinized.
To carry out this experiment, the videographer relied on fairly simple equipment: a mini Go-Pro camera placed in waterproof packaging and slipped into the dishwasher before turning it on. Water jets of various powers, cleaning product, successive programs… If the ride of a dishwasher in operation is enough to capture the attention, our expert videographer probably did not expect such reactions. Because that’s not at all what intrigued or even frightened Internet users!
Look closely, after having installed everything, including particularly dirty plates, in the appliance, the videographer launches the program for his dishwasher. However, from the first seconds of operation, the water that springs into the device appears very colored, dark and not very clean at first glance. More than the experience itself, it is this small point which attracted comments and criticism from Internet users. “The color of water is scary”, “I no longer regret not having a dishwasher”, “Why is the water brown?” “I will never wash my dishes like that again,” it reads. While some see this as a sign of unhealthy drinking water, others blame the hygiene of the amateur videographer, suspecting poor cleaning of the dishwasher. Several Internet users seem disgusted by the state of the plates.
However, this is not the most plausible explanation according to several obviously well-informed Internet users. They quickly came to the rescue of the poor videographer overwhelmed by the number of messages. The operation of the dishwasher itself could be the cause. Some models are therefore equipped with a heat exchanger and the first seconds of operation may result in the use of water from the previous wash. This is “normal” although unappetizing… Don’t panic, this cycle is followed by proper washing and several rinses to eliminate any risk.
Considering the last seconds of the video which shows that the water remains rather dark and dirty, others suspect a used filter. The filter of a dishwasher should actually be cleaned regularly, at least several times a year, following the instructions provided in the instructions for your dishwasher. This is especially the case if you don’t rinse your plates before putting them in the dishwasher, as is the case in this video. This may be recommended for better hygiene of your appliance and your dishes even if it is not very ecological.
The video ultimately had a merit: much more than its unusual or spectacular appearance, it sheds new light on our daily practices. Rinsing the plates, cleaning the filter, checking the cleanliness of the tank… Internet users who have seen it (and us too) promise it: they will never use their dishwasher in the same way again!
