“I love the tattooed space whales!”

I love the tattooed space whales

After a long wait, James Cameron’s sequel Avatar 2: The Way of Water has finally started this week. After the more than 3-hour visit to the cinema, the encounter with a sea creature resonates with the viewers. That’s what they show enthusiastic whale reactions.

Who are the “whales” are Avatar 2?

The whale-inspired sea creatures in Avatar 2 bear the name Tulkun. The inhabitants of Pandora’s oceans are highly intelligent, conscious, have their own culture and understand mathematics, music and communication.

Avatar: The Way of Water’s tulkun take their obvious inspiration from whales – they have the massive pectoral fins of humpback whaleswhile their jaw structure tends to right whales (Eubalaena) remembered.

Some of Pandora’s underwater creatures (such as the large predatory fish known as “Nalutsa” and “Akula”) can be dangerous even to the ocean tribe of the Na’vi. Others such as the flying fish (“Skimwing”) and underwater swimmers (“Ilu”) are used as mounts. The Metkayina clan, on the other hand, has become close friends with the whales: some Na’vi and Tulkun even form a sibling relationship connection in spirit (“Spirit Brother” / “Spirit Sister”).

The Tulkun whale that Jake Sully’s second son Lo’ak (Britain Dalton) forms this bond with is an outcast because he is accused of killing other whales. His name is Payakan and is fast becoming a newcomer to Avatar 2’s darling.

The misfit whale in Avatar 2 got me made to cry. I am in love [diese] animals so much!

With so many emotions for Pandora’s marine mammals and great sympathy in the whale hunt, which aims for the new most valuable substance on the planet, it can sometimes get a little emotional:

Avatar 2 is a visual marvel, but it’s also a movie so kitschy is that the whales subtitles obtain.

The launch of Avatar 2 on Disney+, meanwhile, is still a long way off, although the question of whether Avatar 2 is worth seeing in 3D in cinemas should be given careful thought.
