MyMMO demon Cortyn is showing a dark side again and is slaying heaps of complaining players in World of Warcraft’s LFR. But it’s also just too much fun…
When World of Warcraft players think of priests, they tend to think of friendly healers who only use their abilities for good. But then there are the “real” priests, who Blizzard has given a lot of trolling skills to. Sometimes out of ignorance, sometimes out of sheer malice, they become the scourge of their group members.
In the fight against Raszageth there are several phase changes where you have to jump from one platform to another. This is achieved by a “knockback” effect from the boss. Position yourself correctly, get knocked back, and then land on the target platform.
In theory.
However, priests have the wonderful ability to give other players the Levite spell. This will cause the character to float a few inches off the ground and have a reduced fall speed. You can see what that means if you just buff the group at this point in time in this nice clip from the WoW subreddit:
I’m sure every priest has at least toyed with the idea – if only to find out if you can mitigate your fall damage.
If you didn’t recognize it right away: all players with the levitating buff fly way too far and simply over the target platform. They end up in the abyss and die instantly. In the video shown, the priest had only good intentions, because he wanted to help the group and mitigate the damage caused by the fall – he realizes far too late that he has condemned them to a quick death.
More wicked priests (ie you and me) can use this ability beautifully for trolling or unleashing righteous wrath on those who deserve it.
Especially in LFR, where the clueless people often type most of the insults, there’s immense satisfaction in levitating the complainer at the last moment. Does that make me just as toxic as him right now? Yes, a little maybe. But my satisfied smile when I imagine how the Meckerfritze is biting his keyboard while he yells and flies into the abyss is worth it every time.
At least sometimes you can do that. Most of them died in phase 1 anyway.
