“I looked on the hill to see if I could”

Jenny Rautionaho was ninth in Suurmäki qualifying at the World Championships in Planica. The Finn made the fifth longest jump of the qualifiers. However, he managed to get scared in the middle of a top performance.

Jenny Rautionaho continues his exemplary performance in the World Championships in Planica. Rautionaho was no less than ninth in Suurmäki’s qualifying and defeated, among other things, the top-ranked team in the overall World Cup competition in recent years Nika Kriznarin. Slovenian Kriznar was 13th.

Rautionaho skied 125 meters from Planica’s HS138 hill. It was the fifth longest jump of the qualifier.

Rautionaho was satisfied with his jump.

– There was a theoretical possibility to jump a little further. On the hill, I watched to see if it would catch on. Now it’s getting a bit long, Rautionaho described to Urheilu.

Rautionaho has recovered from a wonderful blow, even though the preparation for the World Championships was far from the best possible.

Rautionaho fell at the World Cup in Willingen at the beginning of February. The Finn was carried away from the competition venue on a stretcher and he had to stay in the hospital for three days.

Rautioanho only got a jumping permit five days before the start of the World Championships. Even on the normal hill, Rautionaho reached the best ranking of his career when he was 16th.

The 26-year-old hill jumper was also in shape when Finland was historically sixth in the mixed hill race.

Sports expert Janne Ahonen raved a lot about Rautionaho’s competitive side.

– Jenny is in a good mood. Today’s training was all about jumping, but when the important jumps come, like on a normal hill, there you can find self-confidence, courage and desire, Ahonen incensed.

Rautionaho was also satisfied that he has achieved basic jumps in competition performances.

– These performances give more self-confidence. It has been a bit lost over the course of the season. It’s nice that there is now self-confidence at this level, Rautionaho stated.

Also Julia Kykkänen reached the suurmäki race this time. Kykkänen qualified for the Normalimäki race. Now he was the 22nd of the qualifier in suurmäki.

– We got a little troll off our back again, Kykkänen described.
