“I haven’t been myself”

Norwegian skier Helene Marie Fossesholm recently announced that she is taking a break from competing. At a press conference, the 22-year-old now says that she is feeling better, but that she does not expect to compete for a long time.

She rules out the Tour de Ski at the turn of the year, but in any case expects to compete before the season is over.
– For a period there was very little training. I was a little down and not quite myself. It was a bit strange to experience for a while. I’ve come out of that Mariana Trench a bit and aim to enjoy the skis and have a good time. So let the ski races come when it’s time for it, says Helene Marie Fossesholm at a press conference.

Fossesholm says that she has received good help when things have felt heavy mentally. The Norwegian also says that her legs tingled when she saw her national team colleagues compete in Beitostølen last weekend, but that she feels safe in the decision to put the competition on hold until further notice.
– Right now I think as little as possible about the future and take one day and one week at a time. I’m not going to throw myself into ski racing too soon, because I don’t think that’s the right medicine.
