“I have not ghosted my family”

I have not ghosted my family

It has been a whirlwind 2024 for the footballer Emil Forsberg. It started when he left Germany and RB Leipzig last winter to play for the New York Red Bulls. Where he was immediately named team captain.

Apart from football, it has been a difficult time. In March, his now ex-wife passed away Shanga Forsberg out on Instagram that the couple would divorce. The couple met back in 2004 and have been together for 19 years and have two children together.

In the post, she wrote:

“We are going to separate. And I never thought I would say after two children and 19 years together. Words that still feel unreal. I have loved you more than anything and always supported you. But even love has its limits”.

Alleged to have ghosted his family

Later in the post, Shanga Forsberg writes:

“In the newspapers we have read and seen that you are doing well and are ‘enjoying every moment’. You also have plans for the future. We didn’t know about them either. If only the reporters knew that you talk to them more than to your family in recent months” .

This has caused several people to wonder if Emil Forsberg has left his family in the lurch.

The footballer has not wanted to open up about his private life, but now he does in an interview with The evening paper. He tells the newspaper that he does not want to talk about the divorce because of his children. But he points out that he has not left his family as has been speculated about.

– It is not true at all that I have ghosted my family. Not at all. It’s really sad that it came out like that. I have been in contact with the children and the family the whole time since I came here, he tells Aftonbladet.

He continues:

– It is difficult when there is speculation about things that no one knows anything about and a lot of things are written here and there. There are always two sides to the coin and I have learned to live with it as a public figure, but it is most difficult for my relatives.
