Twitch streamer Asmongold is working on his legend. In a Twitch stream, he now explains how he achieved a feat as a teenager: he made a lousy line in the World of Warcraft trade chat, got a ban in the MMORPG, but managed to convince a Blizzard gamemaster to run him to let.
This is the situation:
Twitch’s flagship nerd – thousands hang on his every word as he explains MMORPGs to them:
Ban in WoW for anal [Mal von Kil’jaeden]
This was the ban of Asmongold: IAt the moment, the “Wrath of the Lichking” expansion is coming up in WoW Classic – that’s bringing the server to the brink of collapse.
As Asmongold explores the times on a Twitch stream, he begins to recount a story from 2008, when the legendary expansion originally released.
Asmongold was 17 at the time:
So I made one of those “anal jokes” in trade chat and I got reported. A gamemaster wrote to me and – everyone made some random anal joke – and I just put “anal” before the “Mark of Kil’jaeden”. It was totally random – I just thought it was funny.
Asmongold
The GM then wrote to him and said: We have blocked your account and you cannot speak. The reason was what Asmongold had put in the chat.
Twitch’s flagship nerd can’t have a girlfriend: “I want him to be miserable and lonely like me.”
Asmongold felt like a “goddamn genius” when he won the discussion
How was Asmongold able to break free from the spell? He says he just asked if “anal” was a bad word.
The GM explains that the word isn’t bad, but if you add something, it becomes a bad word.
But Asmongold says he now asked the GM:
What do you think anal mark of Kil’jaeden means? This is a non-sequitur. There’s no sexual innuendo here – it doesn’t make any sense.
And I actually won the argument with the game master and they canceled the ban. I was 17 at the time: I felt so great, you can’t even imagine. Like a goddamn genius, a mastermind. I tricked you again, Blizzard, I showed you!
Asmongold
What is a non sequitur? The “magic word” Asmongold used here to convince the Blizzard GM means a “fallacy in an argument.”
Just because “anal” has a sexual connotation in some contexts doesn’t mean that every word you put after it is automatically sexually charged.
“Anal Mark by Kil’Jaeden” is therefore not sexually charged.
What’s behind it? It’s such a heroic story:
No wonder he turned out to be such a handsome guy.
Asmongold was able to escape the spell at the time because of his brilliant mind. A few weeks ago, Blizzard banned him from WoW again, and he quickly got out of the ban. But some players suspect special treatment behind it:
Asmongold’s ban from WoW shows how annoying the special position of Twitch streamers is to normal players
