“I don’t want to talk about it”

Stina Nilsson has changed biathlon to long-distance running.
At the same time, many Swedes have hoped for a comeback to the national skiing team.
But now the 31-year-old gives a new message after all the speculation.

For many years was Stina Nilsson one of the world’s best cross-country skiers, especially in sprints where she reaped great success. She won both Olympic gold and World Cup gold, but four years ago she left traditional cross-country skiing.

Nilsson to the WC?

Stina changed the sport completely to biathlon instead and gave it a wholehearted effort to reach the top of the world. But after four seasons, the 31-year-old has also left biathlon to return to regular skiing again.

The article continues below.

This time it will be a bet on long races next season and it has also opened the door for a comeback to both the national skiing team and the skiing WC. Swedish national team manager Anders Byström also saw his chance to lure Nilsson back.
– It is not impossible, as long as you go to the qualifying competitions, Byström said in a statement.

Stina’s message

But after all the speculation, Stina Nilsson has now eased her heart and spoken out properly. Which seems to make many Swedes disappointed.
– I will not do more traditional cross-country skiing. It’s a closed chapter for me, says Nilsson to the Norwegian ski site langrenn.com.
– My only focus now is to train for long races and Ski Classics, nothing else.

Stina also admits that she did not speak at all with national team manager Anders Byström about a possible comeback.
– No. I haven’t spoken to him. And I don’t really want to talk more about it, she says in the interview.
